Moving to a new location is exciting, but besides the practical hassle, it also involves a number of administrative obligations. They also differ depending on your type of business.

I work at home as a self-employed person in a sole proprietorship

This means your domicile address is also your official company address. You can change your address at the municipal civil service in your new place of residence. A number of other institutions, such as your health insurance fund or VAT administration are automatically informed of your new address. The Crossroads Bank for Companies (CBC) is thus automatically informed of your change of address.

But there's a catch. Since your home address is also your business address, you still have to have this new business address - although in practice it is the same as your domicile address - changed separately in the CBC. You can come to us for that.

I have a company

Then the official address from which you run your business is considered to be the registered office. A change of address for your company's registered office must be filed with the clerk's office of the Commercial Court, after which the amended articles of association will be published in the Official Gazette. If your company is a VOF or CommV, you can simply pass on the change via the 'business counter'. If you have another form of company, your accountant or notary will arrange this for you.

If the address of your company changes with you, you must also inform the CBC of this change of address. You can do this yourself at a recognised business counter such as icounter.be. Your place of business does not automatically change when your company's registered office moves.

Changing your address in the CBE

As a self-employed person, you are obliged to keep your data up-to-date in the CBE. Incorrect data is problematic, because government institutions rely on the CBE for many things and you risk being fined by the FPS Economy. That's why you can easily arrange your office move online via icounter.

Change of address in the CBC

Do you have a company and are you moving an office? In that case, you must notify the Crossroads Bank for Companies (CBC) of the change of address yourself.This is because your establishment unit does not automatically change when you change your company's registered office or domicile address.
